This week is week 7 and next week ERO (Education Review Office) will be coming in to check up on the school and see that this school is good. For ERO we will be having a long Whole School assembly and The Choir, Kapa Haka, Samoan Group, Dance Group and the band will be performing, I am in The Choir so I will be performing at that. Jade and I will be the 2 girls in the front row so I'm scared about that because there will be alot of people at the assembly. There will be 2 soloists in The Choir, 'Tafa and Mary-Anne' and we will be singing 'Cheers', our instructor (or teacher) is Mrs Chryssafis and she will be there aswell.
This week in reading, everyone will be making a T.V Show about Greenhouse Effects, and our T.V Show is called 'The Kakariki News' , the 2 presenters are River and Karen, The manager is Young-Blood, Rizal will be the illustrator (the person who will be drawing all the pictures during the show while the presenters will be talking, I am the recorder and the timer so I will be the one filming it and making sure that the show is under 5 minutes or less, Katrina will be the writer so she will be the one writing what the presenters will be saying, but she has been away for 2 days and today is Tuesday so the whole group will be helping Karen and I to write the script while she is away, we might also include music at the start and the end just like the real news does.
In writing we have been doing explanation writing, I am doing an explanation on 'How a Scooter Works', I chose it because I know how to ride a scooter so the topic would be easy for me to explain it.

Reflection for Week 5
This week is week 5 and we are learning about friction. There are 4 types of friction Static Friction, Fluid Friction, Rolling Friction and Sliding Friction. Friction is a force that is stopping you if you stand you stand you don't slid, that is called 'Static Friction' .

My Marble Track
Last week, Room 17 were making marble tracks (so is the whole Middle Syndicate) , we still are. I made a marble track with Rebecca and ours is called 'HORROR TRACK' because it is always falling apart and because of the black paint it has and the dull colours.
In our topic, we are talking to a class in the USA. They are kids from Sportsville, Virginia. There school is called Ni River Middle School. They are year 7 students as well. We have sent them letters so they will know a little bit about us. Now we are doing projects in groups about New Zealand, the flag, native birds and the National Anthem and many more. I am in the native birds group and we are writing about the New Zealand native bird, which is the kiwi, we are going to use powerpoint to do it.
For reading, we were studying about snow and hail and how it is formed. I am doing How Hail is Formed. Hail is kind of like snow because it goes up and down in the the clouds becase wind pushes it back up because it is so light, but when it gets heavy enough to drop down from the sky to the ground then it drops and that is how hail is formed.
In maths we are learning about place value and number line.

Holiday Reflection and Goals
During the holidays I mostly stayed home for the whole two weeks. In the holidays, I got my hair cut and went shopping. I also went to a party and that was it.

Last Blog Post For Term 3
This is my last blog post for Term 3.
I am writing this to reflect on what I have been learning throughout the term.
Well, first of all for reading at the start of the term for reading we have been doing some work on Little Red Riding Hood and all the groups did a play for the Little Red Riding Hood Rap story. Then later on in the term Kahurangi did a Readers Theater story. Readers Theater is when you have a script and a couple of people to play the other parts. You must have a narrator at all times otherwise your story won't make any sense.
During maths we learnt about compensation and fractions like 2/3 of 6=4 and 1/5 of 10=2 all you need to do to work that out is to go 2/3 of 6= 3 divided 6 which equals 2 and 2x2=4 so that is your answer.
For our art we were working on our robots for the art exhibition and now we do art with Mrs Chryssafis. Now we are learning to enlarge a picture x3 the size of it's original size.
For the past few weeks for P.E we have been going to these cricket people on the school field and they have been teaching us about cricket and we have been playing alot of cricket. It is really fun, my favourite part is fielding. Last week on Friday it was the Fun Run and the girls had to do 2 laps and the boys had to do 3 and I came first out of the whole middle syndicate.
In writing we made digital stories and my groups digital story is called Colour Heroes ! We published them and presented them to the whole school. We used Windows Movie Maker to make them and out all the pictures in and we used Audacity to record our voices, but some people used Windows Movie Maker to narrate their stories but our group didn't. We used Audacity.
For topic in the middle of Term 3 we did Dairy Farming and after Dairy Farming we choose our own resources and we studied about them. I chose Wildlife and now I am doing a model about the ostrich I am going to present it to the class today.
But this term we didn't go on any trips.

Reflection for Week 7
This week, Kahurangi was reading a book called Nippers. Nippers are kids that are willing to be life-guards when they grow up. We also did a play last week called 'The Gingerbread Man' and I had the role of being the Narrator with Ben.
This week it was also our art exhibition and our class made robots. We were learning about Martin Horspool. In case you don't know him, he is a famous robot maker that makes robots out of trash and metal. He gets his stuff from the dumpster. At the exhibition there were alot of visitors and the band performed, choir and Kapa Haka.
